About

This site exists because of a question a lot of Canadians with jobs are asking right now: can I actually build something of my own without risking the paycheque my life runs on?

The answer this site is testing in public is yes, if you build slowly, cheaply, and consistently.

The founder of The After Hours Founder works a full-time job and built an online store in Canada (a clean beauty brand, launched in late 2025) entirely after hours evenings and weekends, funded by the job, grown with search content instead of ads. The first sales took months. They came. That experience the real costs, the real timeline, the mistakes is the foundation of everything published here.

What you’ll find here:

  • Side hustle guides filtered for people with jobs: fits around a 9-to-5, under $200 CAD to start, and able to grow
  • Canadian specifics that US sites skip: provincial registration, CRA tax rules, GST/HST, CAD pricing
  • Honest numbers: what things cost, how long they take, and what this site itself is earning as it grows

What you won’t find here:

  • “Quit your job” advice, income guarantees, or screenshots of someone else’s Lamborghini
  • Hustles we’d never do ourselves, or tools we haven’t researched

How this site makes money: Some links here are affiliate links — if you sign up for a tool we recommend, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That’s the whole business model, plus digital products we’ll only sell once we’ve proven the advice works. Full details are on the Disclosure page.

Two posts a week. Built after hours. Reported honestly.
